On A Clear Day You Can Hear Forever

Those who have been involved with the scanning hobby for any amount of time will know that getting good, accurate and current information is not an easy task. This website is an attempt to provide you with the most accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date data available anywhere for the St. Louis area (*).

You may have seen other websites that list frequencies for our local area, but the majority of these sites use the data as it comes directly from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Raw data available from the FCC database does not contain information about usage, DPL/PL tones, channel numbers, suppressed frequencies, talkgroups, etc.

Furthermore, most of the national frequency guide books that are offered for sale are usually severely outdated and seem to rely mainly on the FCC data. Unlike a few other larger cities, nobody publishes a scanner directory specific to the St. Louis area.... until NOW!

Gathering frequencies
In reality, there are only two methods used to gather the most accurate and current information:

1. Finding it yourself. This method requires lots of patience, sweat and hard work; using a frequency counter or your scanner and its search function, listening and taking careful notes on what you hear. Or...
   
   
2. Find likeminded scanner enthusiasts who have already done the "hard work" for you!

(*) The frequency listings you'll find on this site are a collection of just the "good stuff" - only confirmed frequencies, CTCSS tones, talkgroups and user information; any frequency information that was gathered via the on-line FCC database has been scrutinized for accuracy, before being presented here.

How you can help
An untold number of hours have been (and continue to be) expended in the collection and processing of the data. But, your help is needed in keeping the information presented here up-to-date. Origin of this data
All frequency usage in the U.S. is handled though the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and is a matter of public record. The information on these pages comes from a variety of sources including, but not limited to: the online FCC database(s), various scanner references (both printed and on-line), personal monitoring observations and that of my associates, updates and information sent via email from anonymous contributors who have visited these pages, etc. As far as any misuse of the information presented here, virtually any information can be misused if someone is so inclined, but that should in no way prevent anyone from making it available for those who will make good use of it.
