| Comments : | With Universal's transfers you're never quite sure what to expect, sometimes they're very good others leave a lot to be desired. Well worry no more, Bride Of Chucky is defiantly in the group with the best transfers from Universal thus far. The image quality on this DVD version is very good, the film is properly framed at 1.85:1 and is provided with 16x9 enhancement. The content appears to be well balanced, the colors are very clean with vivid color saturation, excellent contrast and very good black level throughout the entire movie. The sharpness and detail level on this DVD is really good, no film grain, motion artifacts or blurryness (softness) appear anywhere on this DVD that I can see. The disc starts with a montage of clips from Universal's DVD library before the movie begins... can commercials be far behind? The Dolby Digital 5.1 English soundtrack is quite good (this movie begs for a DTS version), dialogue was clear without any harshness and had a "natural" overall sound quality across the entire soundstage. The sound effects and directional effects placement is outstanding the .1 (LFE) effects channel has some depth/punch and the musical soundtrack covers quite a wide dynamic range. English and Spanish subtitles and a Dolby Digital 5.1 French dub track also appear on this disc. There is no Closed Captioning (CC) provided. The main menu is well though out and easy to navigate. There is no background music or animation to any of the menus. The extras contained on this disc are the type and quantity that are usually only found on one of the Universal "Collector's Editions". This disc includes a very nice array of supplements: not one, but two full-lenght running commentary tracks. The first by director Ronny Yu, and the second by stars Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly and creator-writer Don Mancini, there's a "Spotlight On" segment that goes behind the scenes of the film and shows you how they make Chucky come alive, also included are the notes from Jennifer Tilly's diary while she was making the film, a history of "Chucky" films, the original theatrical trailer, and also the original theatrical trailer from "Child's Play 2". | ||
| Recommendation : | Bride of Chucky is the fourth in the "Child's Play" series and if you're a fan of the "Chucky" movies, or even if you've never seen any of the preceding movies this is a great looking and sounding DVD and would make a nice addition to anyone's DVD collection. | ||
