How to tell the difference between the model years:
I was at the OnStar site (my.OnStar.com) and noticed a link I don't remember seeing before... something called the "GM Owner's Center" - it's quite possible it has been there all along, and I have just been overlooking it! Anyway, it seems that GM, or the 'General' as I've taken to calling them :) has finally put some useful information on-line tailored just for your cars. What can you find at the Owner Center? Well for a start; Maintenance reminders, Recall and safety information, Service history tracking, PDA applications, Your owner's manual, Vehicle value estimates, Warranty and service information, News and events, Special offers and privileges. You'll be able to create personalized vehicle profiles for any participating GM vehicles that you own. Each profile will store all of your vehicle information, including its service history and more. Did I read Owner's manual? Yes. This is one of the things I have always wanted in electronic form, and even thought about scanning a few of them in myself! However, it appears that someone at the General has taken the lead and has also been very busy scanning these manuals in. So, now you can download the owner's manual for each of your cars in a PDF file format - the PDFs weigh in at around 20MB each, and the overall quality is pretty good, the scanned black-and-white images and line-drawings are a little streaky, but if you have misplaced the original or just want to have an electronic reference copy, it's better than nothing!

The Service Parts Identification Label (SPID label) has been developed and placed on the vehicle to aid service and parts personnel in identifying parts and options originally installed on the vehicle. The label is located on the underside of the rear compartment lid. ![]() OPTION AND PROCESS CODES Regular Production Option (RPO) codes are a three-digit combinations of letters and numbers. They identify standard equipment and in most cases some optional equipment that is installed on the vehicle at the assembly plant. Also contained on the SPID label are the trim & paint colors. Certain GM accessories can be ordered at the same time the vehicle is ordered. These are called Regular Production Accessories (RPA). The accessory is listed on the vehicle’s window label and SPID label. However, the RPA does not accompany the vehicle when it leaves the assembly plant. Instead, the item is shipped directly to the dealership for installation at the time of delivery. Below are the most common RPO numbers you are likely to find on a Fleetwood. A RPO Master List that includes every RPO code used within the last 20 years is available in the Regular Production Option Master List (PDF, 1.1MB), the RPO codes are arranged in alpha-numeric order, and this list is huge, containing more than 18,000 items.
Each Fleetwood carries a 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number used for license and insurance identification and in general reference to the automobile. The number is located on a plate riveted to the windshield lower frame at the driver's side of the car where it is visible through the windshield. The Vehicle Identification Number is decoded as follows:

Notes:
Factory program designed to help long time owners display their loyalty to Cadillac. Called a "Heritage of Ownership" medallion it is a solid brass circular emblem, with a raised circle, within a circle, it has the words "Cadillac Heritage of Ownership" around the outside and roman numerals on the inside. The roman numerals are supposed to represent how many Cadillacs you have owned - starting with I thru XVII, there are also inserts with only the Cadillac script on it and another one labeled "Master Owner". It can only be ordered by the New Car department of a dealership, and is given out to repeat customers; it comes in a gift box with mounting hardware and instructions. Included within the gift box is a card with the Cadillac wreath and crest on one side and the following text on the other side of the card:
The Gold Key "Heritage of Ownership" program was introduced in 1989 and available only from participating Cadillac dealers.
A trunk mounted CD changer was offered as an option on the 1995-1996 Fleetwoods equipped with the AM/FM radio with cassette player only, the CD changer was not available on cars equipped with the single-slot in-dash CD player, also the 1993-1994 radios were different and cannot control a CD changer. With the compact disc changer you can play up to twelve discs continuously. Normal size discs may be played using the slots supplied in the magazine. You must first load the magazine with disc before you can play a compact disc. Load the CDs from the bottom to top, placing a disc in the magazine label side up. If you load a disc label side down, the disc will not play and an error will occur. Repeat this procedure for loading up to twelve discs in the magazine. Once you have loaded the discs in the magazine, slide open the door of the compact disc (CD) changer. Push the magazine into the changer in the direction of the arrow marked on the top of the magazine. Close the door by sliding it all the way forward. When the CD magazine is loaded, the changer will begin checking for discs in the magazine. This will continue for up to one minute, depending on the number of discs loaded. To eject the magazine from the player, slide the CD changer door all the way open, then press the eject button. Remember to keep the door closed whenever possible to keep dirt and dust from getting inside the changer. Whenever a CD magazine with discs is loaded in the changer, the CD changer symbol will appear on the radio display. If the CD changer is checking the magazine for CDs, the CD symbol will flash on the display until the changer is ready to play. When a CD begins playing, a disc and track number will be displayed. The disc numbers are listed on the front of the magazine. All of the CD functions are controlled by the radio buttons, except for ejecting the CD magazine. Notice:
