For FEBRUARY 2005 ![]() 2005 CTS-V The 2005 Cadillac STS-V is General Motors’ most intense expression of Cadillac power and performance yet, and the luxury nameplate’s latest offering in its growing family of high-performance V-Series vehicles. The STS-V carries all the craftsmanship and sophistication of its STS sibling, but does so at an entirely different level. Designed for everyday driving, the STS-V has been developed to deliver supercharged, rear-drive performance with an elegant design statement that is unmistakably Cadillac. At the heart of the STS-V is a new, 4.4-liter version of the Northstar engine outfitted with a positive displacement intercooled supercharger. For DECEMBER 2004 ![]() 2005 SRX The bold, breakthrough styling of the SRX instantly announces Cadillac’s arrival in the medium luxury utility segment. This all-new vehicle brings a heightened level of performance and flexibility to the segment, is based on GM’s acclaimed new Sigma architecture and is available in both rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) applications. For NOVEMBER 2004 ![]() 1957 Eldorado Brougham A full complement of vanity items and personal accessories accompanied all 1957-58 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham models. The open glove box shows, among other things, the cigarette case box [complete with a pack of Fleetwood cigarettes], six magnetic drinking cups, a tissue dispenser, the Evans vanity case with the embroidered Cadillac "Vee" and a perfume atomizer containing one ounce of Arpège perfume extract by Lanvin of Paris. For OCTOBER 2004 ![]() 2005 CTS For 2005 Cadillac's CTS debuts a new entry model with a 210-horse 2.8-liter V6 capable of 195 lb-ft of torque at 3200 rpm. This engine is a modified version of the 3.6-liter VVT CTS engine that's also offered in 2005. For SEPTEMBER 2004 ![]() 1986 Eldorado In 1985 Cadillac becomes the first production car manufacturer in the world to transverse-mount V8 engines in a front-wheel-drive configuration for improved space utilization in full-size, six-passenger DeVille models. For AUGUST 2004 ![]() 1977 Coupe de Ville 1977 started the downsizing era of Cadillac; inches were shaved from both the length and width of all models, and gone were the fender skirts that had adorned Cadillacs for many prior decades - the result of this redesign was a very clean look that lasted well into the 80's. For JULY 2004 ![]() 1960 Eldorado The flamboyant tailfins, which were introduced for the 1959 model year, continued to be refined throughout the early part of the 60's. For JUNE 2004 ![]() 1984 Eldorado Biarritz Cadillac enjoyed excellent sales results in 1984, with calendar year production of 320,017 cars. The convertible car returned to Cadillac lineup that year after having been dropped from production after the 1976 model year. Production of the new convertible was limited to 2,000 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz convertibles. For MAY 2004 ![]() 2005 STS "Our long-term goal for Cadillac is to become the Standard of the World once again," said Mark LaNeve, general manager for Cadillac. "In order to succeed globally, we have to build vehicles that have outstanding performance, exceptional quality and reliability, and meet the demands of the most discerning car buyers. The STS represents the latest step in that direction." For APRIL 2004 ![]() 1949 Coupe de Ville In 1949, Cadillac introduced the high-compression, short-stroke, lightweight "modern" V8. This engine, which was smaller, lighter and very fuel efficient, and made Cadillac the fastest, most powerful passenger vehicle in America. The Coupe DeVille hardtop was also introduced in 1949, earning Cadillac Motor Trend’s first "Car of the Year" award. The one-millionth Cadillac is produced on November 25, 1949. For MARCH 2004 ![]() 2004 Deville The Deville nameplate continues to offers a distinctive expression of classic American luxury. For FEBRUARY 2004 ![]() 1971 Eldorado In 1970 Cadillac offers the largest production passenger car engine in the world, a 500-cubic-inch (8.2-liter) V8 delivering 400 horsepower on the Eldorado. Track Master, an electronically controlled skid braking system is available. For JANUARY 2004 ![]() 2004 SRX Tested at the legendary Nürburgring racetrack in Germany, the SRX boasts high-revving horsepower and near-perfect balance, affording confidence and control, even in challenging situations. SRX will offer two exceptional powertrains, V6 and V8, and will be available in rear-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive. For DECEMBER 2003 ![]() 1987 Allante The 1987 Cadillac Allante luxury two-door convertible was unique in many ways. The body was designed and manufactured by the Italian firm Pininfarina in Turin, Italy. Bodies were flown to Detroit on 747s for assembly of the powertrain and chassis, creating the world’s longest assembly line -- a distance of 3,300 miles. This front-wheel-drive sports car pioneered many Cadillac innovations, including traction control and the Northstar engine. Also, Cadillac is the first auto-maker to use multiplexed wiring to control external lighting on a production automobile. For NOVEMBER 2003 ![]() 2001 Presidential Limousine Cadillac's long tradition of supplying limousines for presidential use continues with this modified Deville Limousine. For OCTOBER 2003 ![]() 1967 Eldorado In 1967, Cadillac introduced the totally redesigned front-wheel-drive Eldorado. This personal luxury car was built on a completely new chassis. For SEPTEMBER 2003 ![]() 1999 Popemobile Pope John Paul II rode in a specially designed 1999 Cadillac DeVille when he greeted a crowd of 100,000 people at the Estadio Azteca. The Pope was escorted around the stadium in the one-of-a-kind DeVille before delivering his end-of-the-millennium "Address to All Generations." The DeVille has been modified into a convertible and is specially equipped with an elevated platform for the papal chair, extra-wide doors, easy-entry steps, and the official seals and flags of the Vatican. GM de Mexico Design Studio undertook the project's initial stages of converting a Cadillac DeVille into the papal car. Cadillac then contracted two of its Master Coach builders, Eureka Coach and Roush Technologies, to complete the conversion. For AUGUST 2003 ![]() 1999 Eldorado Although the nameplate has been discontinued, the Eldorado heritage will live on! For APRIL 2003 ![]() 1980 Seville The all-new 1980 Seville featured sheer edges and dramatic styling, unlike any other American-built car on the road. For the first time, Seville shared a front-wheel-drive chassis with Eldorado. Cadillac advances fuel delivery technology with the introduction of digital electronic fuel-injection, including self-diagnostics and microprocessor controls offered a combination of engineering features not found in any other car, including front-wheel drive, four-wheel independent suspension, and an electronic fuel-injected V8 engine. For MARCH 2003 A very classic convertible! ![]() 1953 Eldorado Convertible This was a magnificent machine, with the industry’s first wraparound windshield and visors, and "frenched" headlights. Special equipment included a metal convertible boot, cutdown doors, leather upholstery, chrome wire wheels, enhanced styling and signal-seeking radio. The Eldorado sold for $7,750, which was considered a great deal of money at the time, but still an excellent investment. For MAY 2002 we have two *very* different sedans, one ultra-modern, one legendary, in our continuing Desktop Images collection: ![]() 1948 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special The 1948 Cadillacs had tailfins for the first time, modeled after the Lockheed P-38 fighter plane. Harley Earl had been inspired by that plane’s design and couldn’t wait to translate the profile to his cars. Because there was so much excitement about this design innovation, dealers would often park cars in their showrooms with the backs facing the window, leaving the taillights on overnight. The tailfins from these Cadillacs set design trends for decades. ![]() 2003 Cadillac CTS Cadillac's entry-level luxury sedan will be just the first of a long line of winning products that will be produced at, what GM calls, the most technologically advanced assembly plant in the world... the Lansing Grand River Assembly Plant!
